Ovulation Tests

ovulation tests

If you’ve read any of my previous posts you are no doubt going to be investing in ovulation tests, if so congratulations, you’re now heading in the right direction to getting pregnant fast! But the thing is if you aren’t making good use of your OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) then you might miss golden opportunities. So let’s go over the best way to make the most of your investment in these important tests.

Follow these three tips and you’ll be maximising not only your ovulation tests but of course your chances of getting pregnant:

1. Don’t skimp – test generously!

Test everyday once your period is over. Yes a little on the expensive side but until you are very familiar with your cycle it is better to see the negative test result day after day so when your positive result shows up it will be obvious. This way there will be less wondering “Is it or isn’t it positive?” You will be confident as to the optimum timing of your conception attempts.

2. Critical testing time – increase testing to twice a day.

The most critical testing time is when you think you would be most likely to ovulate. You might have some old menstrual cycle charts that tell you that, if not you will soon see by using OPKs, remember to chart; write it all down for future reference. There is only a few days where the chance to capture the positive result is present, so make sure you increase your testing to twice a day as you near ovulation to lessen the risk of missing it.

3. Banish the ‘These are a waste of money!’ thoughts.

If you don’t get pregnant the first month you put lots of effort into OPKs please don’t throw in the towel and consider them a waste of time. If you haven’t read my previous posts on ovulation then you should, read critical information on that here.

Of course OPKs are not the be all and end all of getting pregnant, golly we know there are many women who don’t use them and get pregnant. The point is though that if you are focussed on getting pregnant fast then ovulation tests are a must, pinpointing ovulation any other way has been proven to be much less accurate.

Over the coming days I’ll write you a post about interpreting your ovulation test results.
